IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification Course
for
Professional Medical Careers of California students

Course description
This is a California BVNPT approved certification course for licensed vocational nurse who wish to perform blood withdrawal and start an IV therapy within the scope of their practice.
Theory component is delivered through on-line study and must be completed prior to class schedule. The time required to complete the on line module is dependent on students amount of time spent in completing the coursework. The average time spent to complete the online module is about 3-4 days.
Class day includes successful venipunctures on fellow students.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe purposes for venipuncture.
- Identify potential intravenous (IV) sites and sites to avoid.
- Identify types of prepared IV solutions.
- Identify correct type of tubing to use.
- Determine types of tourniquets that may be used.
- Identify signs and symptoms of fluid volume excess or fluid volume deficit.
- Discuss unexpected outcomes related to a peripheral intravenous infusion and related interventions.
- Describe steps for insertion of a peripheral IV device.
- Troubleshoot intravenous infusions.
- Identify signs and symptoms of complications from intravenous therapy.
- Discontinue a peripheral IV device.
- Identify reasons for discontinuing peripheral IV access.
- Describe unexpected outcomes of discontinuing peripheral IV access and related interventions.
Course fee: Course fee reflects a group rate
For classes conducted in one of our location:
$175.00 for 2-4 students
$155.00 for >5 students
For classes conducted to your school or nearest your location: (minimum of 10 students required)
$195 for 10-15 students
$175 for >15 students or if you have a pre arranged classroom
A $75.00 registration is required at least 2 weeks prior to the class schedule and the balance is payable in cash on the day of the class.
